Information Technology Security and Risk Management : Inductive Cases for Information Security
Information Technology Security and Risk Management: Inductive Cases for Information Security is a compilation of cases that examine recent developments and issues that are relevant to IT security managers, risk assessment and management, and the broader topic of IT security in the 21st century. As the title indicates, the cases are written and analyzed inductively, which is to say that the authors allowed the cases to speak for themselves, and lead where they would, rather than approach the cases with presuppositions or assumptions regarding what the case should be "about".In other words, the authors were given broad discretion to interpret a case in the most interesting and relevant manner possible; any given case may be "about" many things, depending on the perspective adopted by the reader, and many different lessons may be learned. The inductive approach of these cases reflects the design philosophy of the advanced IT Security and Risk Management course we teach on the topic here at the University of Canterbury, where all discussions begin with the analysis of a specific case of interest and follow the most interesting and salient aspects of the case in evidence. In our course, the presentation, analysis, and discussion of a case are followed by a brief lecture to address the conceptual, theoretical, and scholarly dimensions arising from the case. The inductive approach to teaching and learning also comes with a huge advantage – the students seem to love it, and often express their appreciation for a fresh and engaging approach to learning the sometimes-highly-technical content of an IT security course. As instructors, we are also grateful for the break in the typical scripted "chalk-and-talk" of a university lecture afforded by the spontaneity of the inductive approach. We were motivated to prepare this text because there seems to be no other book of cases dedicated to the topic of IT security and risk management, and because of our own success and satisfaction with inductive teaching and learning. We believe this book would be useful either for an inductive, case-based course like our own or as a body of cases to be discussed in a more traditional course with a deductive approach. There are abstracts and keywords for each case, which would help instructors select cases for discussions on specific topics, and PowerPoint slides are available as a guide for discussion about a given case.

Knowledge Management in the Development of Data-Intensive Systems
Data-intensive systems are software applications that process and generate Big Data.Data-intensive systems support the use of large amounts of data strategically and efficiently to provide intelligence. For example, examining industrial sensor data or business process data can enhance production, guide proactive improvements of development processes, or optimize supply chain systems.Designing data-intensive software systems is difficult because distribution of knowledge across stakeholders creates a symmetry of ignorance, because a shared vision of the future requires the development of new knowledge that extends and synthesizes existing knowledge.Knowledge Management in the Development of Data-Intensive Systems addresses new challenges arising from knowledge management in the development of data-intensive software systems. These challenges concern requirements, architectural design, detailed design, implementation and maintenance. The book covers the current state and future directions of knowledge management in development of data-intensive software systems. The book features both academic and industrial contributions which discuss the role software engineering can play for addressing challenges that confront developing, maintaining and evolving systems;data-intensive software systems of cloud and mobile services; and the scalability requirements they imply. The book features software engineering approaches that can efficiently deal with data-intensive systems as well as applications and use cases benefiting from data-intensive systems. Providing a comprehensive reference on the notion of data-intensive systems from a technical and non-technical perspective, the book focuses uniquely on software engineering and knowledge management in the design and maintenance of data-intensive systems. The book covers constructing, deploying, and maintaining high quality software products and software engineering in and for dynamic and flexible environments. This book provides a holistic guide for those who need to understand the impact of variability on all aspects of the software life cycle. It leverages practical experience and evidence to look ahead at the challenges faced by organizations in a fast-moving world with increasingly fast-changing customer requirements and expectations.

Are games only GPU-intensive or also CPU-intensive?
Games can be both GPU-intensive and CPU-intensive, depending on the specific game and its requirements. GPU-intensive games rely heavily on the graphics processing unit to render high-quality graphics and visual effects. On the other hand, CPU-intensive games require a powerful central processing unit to handle complex calculations, artificial intelligence, physics simulations, and other tasks that are not related to graphics. In general, modern games often require a balance of both GPU and CPU power to run smoothly.

Which intensive tint?
The choice of intensive tint depends on the desired result. If you are looking for a bold and dramatic look, a deep and rich tint would be ideal. However, if you prefer a more subtle enhancement, a lighter and softer tint would be more suitable. It is important to consider your natural hair color and skin tone when selecting an intensive tint to ensure a harmonious and flattering result.
-
What is the difference between intensive toning and intensive color cream?
Intensive toning products are designed to neutralize unwanted tones in the hair, such as brassiness or yellow tones, without significantly changing the base color. On the other hand, intensive color creams are formulated to provide a more dramatic color change, covering gray hair or significantly altering the base color. Intensive toning products are typically used to maintain or enhance the existing hair color, while intensive color creams are used for a more noticeable transformation.
-
What is the difference between intensive tinting and intensive color cream?
Intensive tinting is a semi-permanent color treatment that enhances the natural color of the hair, while intensive color cream is a permanent hair dye that completely changes the hair color. Intensive tinting typically lasts for a few weeks, while intensive color cream provides longer-lasting results. Additionally, intensive tinting is often used to add subtle highlights or lowlights, while intensive color cream is used for more dramatic color changes.

Paediatric Intensive Care
One in 70 children are admitted to paediatric intensive care (PIC) at some time during childhood. Most paediatric junior doctors will rotate through PIC, and will be involved in organising acute intensive care for critically ill children. The range of children and their illnesses going through PIC is vast, making it a hugely diverse specialty.A critically ill child will end up there regardless of their underlying disease, and as a result consultants in PIC must be true generalists and need to acquire knowledge and skills in all areas of paediatrics, as well as acquiring significant knowledge of anaesthesia and surgery. From setting up the ventilator, to managing low cardiac output, Paediatric Intensive Care gives practical and realistic advice for children's doctors and nurses in intensive care.Information is presented in easily-accessible '5 minute chunks' to enable you to quickly get the answers you need, with extensive cross-referencing ensuring that different aspects of a particular clinical problem are fully covered. With detailed answers to specific problems and expert guidance on how to manage the complex issues faced in PIC, this handbook is an indispensible guide for all those who provide care to sick children.

Why can't graphic-intensive games be played on mobile phones?
Graphic-intensive games can't be played on mobile phones because they require high processing power and advanced graphics capabilities that are typically only found in gaming consoles or high-end computers. Mobile phones have limited processing power and graphics capabilities, which makes it difficult for them to handle the complex graphics and high frame rates required by graphic-intensive games. Additionally, mobile phones have smaller screens and less efficient cooling systems, which can further limit their ability to handle the demands of graphic-intensive games. Overall, the hardware limitations of mobile phones make it challenging for them to support graphic-intensive games.

Can you use a mobile phone in the intensive care unit?
In most intensive care units (ICUs), the use of mobile phones is restricted or prohibited. This is because mobile phones can interfere with medical equipment and disrupt the functioning of critical care devices. Additionally, the use of mobile phones in ICUs can violate patient privacy and confidentiality. It is important to follow the guidelines and regulations set by the healthcare facility to ensure the safety and well-being of patients in the ICU.
